Cancer metabolism is a hall mark of cancer as cancer cells display unique metabolic pathways to support cancer survival and growth. Cancer metabolism contributed to the foundation of cancer diagnosis and therapeutics, as the primary metabolic pathways of tumors became useful targets for therapeutic intervention. However intra-tumoral heterogeneity in cancer metabolism is a major challenge for cancer research. Also, metabolic flexibility or metabolic plasticity, traits that cancer cells use alternative nutrients or metabolic pathways using same nutrient, is another challenge for anti-cancer therapy. Therefore understanding metabolic networks and defining their regulatory mechanisms is highly essential and we aim to investigate metabolic networks and regulation in cancer.
